From a modest start in 1959
with a small number of individuals sending tea chests of
books to Africa, CODE evolved into a UNESCO-award winning
organization empowering children to learn. In 1987, CODE
Incorporated was borne out of CODE’s need for a reliable
source of revenue to support its commitment to education
abroad and from the expertise it had acquired in accessing
efficient and cost-effective international freight and distribution
systems.
After exploring a number of business ventures,
CODE Incorporated found success in the election supplies
field. It now has to its credit over 250 projects in 64
countries and continues to support the democratic process
around the globe through supplying such products as ballot
boxes, voter inks and stains, easy-to-assemble voter screens
and booths, polling station kits, and digital voter registration
systems.
Other pillars of the CODE structure include
the CODE Foundation and the International Book Bank (IBB).
The CODE Foundation, established in 1992, is an endowment
fund that manages and invests bequests and other planned
gifts. The Foundation donates its investment income annually
to CODE.
